This site is an informal repository for information exchange among participants of the new Correspondence Group on the Exchange of Trusted Network Forensics, including vulnerabilities, established by the ITU-T Study Group 17 (Security) Plenary on 20 February 2009. The designation of the Group is cg-txndf. A formal site will be created shortly on the ITU-T website, and this wiki site will continue as an adjunct to that site to facilitate open outreach, discovery, and the organization of information.

[edit] Introduction

As noted in the CG-TXNDF Terms of Reference, the subject of trusted exchange of network forensics, including vulnerabilities, has become an increasingly important and rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity. This exchange occurs among a complex mix of computer and network emergency response teams, operators, and vendors. This activity and the related platforms is expanding worldwide and in most countries, among so many diverse, frequently insular, agencies, organizations, and companies, that Correspondence Group was deemed essential to effective open, proactive outreach and sharing of an understanding about "who was doing what."

The co-convenors of CG-TXNDF are Tony Rutkowski <mailto:trutkowski@netmagic.com> and Gregg Schudel <mailto:gschudel@cisco.com>. Tony additionally heads Rapporteur Group for Cybersecurity (Q.4/17) that is the sponsor of this CG and

The Group has a limited life span of 6-12 months with the following deliverables tentatively aimed for delivery at the Sep 2009 meeting of SG-17.

  • Discovery, outreach and analysis for all known forums and platforms dealing with the subject of trusted exchange of network forensics, including vulnerabilities
  • Preparation of a report on findings that includes
    • produce of an ecosystems overview and gap analysis
    • proposals for how the ITU-T Q.4/17 can effectively bridge the gaps, to the extent possible
